New Member Designee: Barbara A. Johenning, MAI, AI-GRS, AI-RRS

The North Carolina Chapter of the Appraisal Institute would like to congratulate Barbara A. Johenning for earning three prestigious Appraisal Institute designations. Ms. Johenning earned her MAI in 2012, the AI-GRS in 2020, and, most recently, the AI-RRS.  Her appraisal career started at Integra Realty Resources – Miami in 2000.  She began taking AI courses shortly afterward and immediately became involved with the South Florida Chapter.

Ms. Johenning was in private practice for approximately 15 years and moved into banking in 2015 when she joined BB&T (now Truist) as a commercial evaluator.  She noted that the hiring decision, out of a good number of applicants, was made, in large part, based on her designation.  Four years later, Ms. Johenning was recruited by Pinnacle Bank and credits her experience and designation status for obtaining that position.  Ms. Johenning was active in the South Florida Chapter, serving on numerous committees, the board of directors, and as the 2018 Chapter President.  Ms. Johenning also attended three years of the Leadership Development Advisory Council (LDAC), which is an experience that helped further her commitment to the Appraisal Institute.

She has been with Pinnacle Bank for nearly six years and currently serves as Appraisal Quality Control Manager.  Her position includes review work, quality control, working with the engagement team to ascertain the required scope of work, and working with appraisers to resolve issues. 

Ms. Johenning has been married for 28 years, has three grown children, and four absolutely adorable grandchildren, ages 9 through 12.  She has two rescue Brittany Spaniels and volunteers with American Brittany Rescue and volunteer transport for A Better Setter Rescue.
