The North Carolina Chapter of the Appraisal Institute would like to congratulate David L. Ivey for earning the MAI designation. David earned the AI-GRS designation in 2017, and completed the requirements for the MAI designation in September of 2025.
David is currently Vice President and Senior Commercial Appraisal Review Specialist at First Bank, and has been with the bank for 13 years. First Bank focuses on lending predominantly in North and South Carolina. David holds a supervisory role within the real estate department working on compliance and special projects as needed.
David credits the support of his wife Kasey and his daughter Dailey (age 10) for his success. David and Kasey have been married for 13 years, and David noted that “Kasey has been incredibly supportive during this process both in her encouragement and time during all the travel, late nights, and many weekends that were required to reach my goal. This is as much an accomplishment for both her and Dailey as it is for myself as they were with me for every step”.
Earning a designation requires a lot of time, dedication and sacrifice from our candidates and their families. NCAI would also like to thank Kasey and Dailey for being an amazing support system that helped one our members pursue excellence in his career.
David is a success story for the NCAI Scholarship Fund, and noted “I would like to thank North Carolina Chapter of Appraisal Institute Scholarship Committee for awarding me funds in March of 2025 that paid for the Capstone Program. I took it in Chicago and that funding was greatly appreciated to offset the costs.”
David has actively served in NCAI leadership as a member of the Board of Directors between 2022 and 2024. He noted that serving in a leadership role motivated him to start pursuing the MAI designation in late 2022. David also credits his mentor for helping him achieve success. “During that same time period, I started working for John Sheiry MAI, AI-GRS, AI-RRS the Chief Appraiser at First Bank and his guidance and support not only allowed me the time to pursue the MAI designation, but the encouragement to as well. All of these experiences and support have led me to this point and I am really proud to be an MAI”.
