I am beyond honored and excited to serve the chapter and all of our members as president in 2026! I want to thank NCAI Chapter leadership, the board, and all of the members for their hard work and dedication during 2025. The chapter had one of its most challenging years, but we met each challenge head-on and came out stronger on the other side. I was truly amazed at how quickly our executive team, committees, and NCPAC, along with Scott Dibiasio with National, and Don Rodgers with the NCAB, came together, and with the help of our lobbyists Jon Hardister and Sebastian King, were able to change pending legislations that would have hindered our goals. Because of you, NCAI continues to be a model and industry leader. I want to thank Linda Nelson, past president of NCPAC, for your valuable contributions. I truly feel the bond between NCAI and our peer organizations is stronger than ever and one of my main goals is to continue nurturing these relationships, which can only benefit all parties involved.

After reflecting on 2025, I am filled with that sense of joy and confidence that every person stepping into my role craves. I am surrounded by a strong support system, comprised of the very people who helped build this chapter into what it is today, which is in my opinion the strongest chapter in the country. I may be a little biased, but the evidence shows it. At this point in time, our chapter has never been stronger financially, personnel-wise, and we are growing membership to add to an already outstanding member base. This has not been an accolade that was achieved overnight or by one person, but the culmination of years of hard work, sacrifice, and the honest focus on how we could help our members succeed and excel. 

One of the highlights and proudest moments of my life was when I received my MAI designation from then President, Chris Johnson, in Charlotte in 2019. From that day on, I understood what the Appraisal Institute was and is. This organization is here to set us above the rest. The benefits AI and NCAI provide are priceless, just ask any attorney or client.

On that note, my main focus in this upcoming year is to expand and grow our outreach to showcase our members’ talents and expertise, for both MAIs and most importantly our SRAs. I recently saw a post where SRAs were asking what the point is of maintaining their designations. Nothing could have been more alarming or heartbreaking to me. Though it was tough to see, I am so glad I saw it. Our designees are the most well-trained and qualified to provide top quality products and services to a wide array of clients and we want these potential clients to know that.  I want to inform every attorney, banker, government body, and potential client of our SRAs and how they can provide services beyond their expectations.

Another focus is to get back to what we do best, educate. We are going to be revitalizing our curriculum and offerings across the board to increase attendance and give us a chance to showcase our beautiful state. A major initiative Mr. Brain Crowder and the Education Committee is pursuing is to hold our education offerings in locations closer to airports to make it convenient as possible for those who have to travel to attend a class.

Another reason behind the success of NCAI is our committees under the direction of their Chairs and Vice Chairs. I want to personally thank those who have stepped up to help lead our committees in 2026. Please know that I am always here and my phone is on 24/7, so never hesitate to call me about anything. The executive committee is also here for you. Again, our main focus is for our committees and committee leadership to take a proactive stance versus reactive in today’s environment, protecting not only NCAI members, but the appraisal profession as a whole. We are going to achieve this goal by working more closely with AI National and with our state representatives through building genuinely close personal relationships with them. Under the guidance of our wonderful Government Relations Committee, we plan on holding our legislative day in June where we plan to spark these relationships. National President Mike Acquaro-Mignogna, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS will be joining us, so we hope everyone signs up and plans to join us in Raleigh.

As your president, I plan to lead the objective of clearly defining ambitions for all our committees. I will work closely with each committee in establishing their goals for the year and installing tangible, measurable strategies for achieving these objectives. I will be reaching out to the chairs of each committee starting the first week of February to discuss ideas to implement plans to cultivate these goals.

On behalf of NCAI, I am pleased to announce the chapter will be hosting our first ever WIN Conference, which will be held on Thursday, March 12th in Charlotte, NC. Please join us for a day filled with network building opportunities and engaging speakers covering real estate from a variety of perspectives, including development, brokerage, appraisal, and investment. Registration is scheduled to open in early February.  

I am so proud to be a part of this great organization, and I can’t thank Kelli Mayhew, Erica Butler, Brian Crowder, Laura Gourlay, and Nathan Pippin enough for all of their contributions. 2025 was one of our best years yet and I truly believe that because of everyone’s hard work and Kelli’s steadfast leadership, 2026 will be even better. On behalf of NCAI, I want to extend a special thanks to Kelli for leading the way and showing what a true leader looks like. You have sacrificed so much time and effort to the chapter over the past year, and I don’t know where NCAI would be without you. 

I’m excited about the year ahead, and I hope you are too. We have been given the chance to do something special, and I look forward to working with all of you in the upcoming year. Let’s keep the positive momentum going so we can elevate NCAI to achieve its greatest potential for the ongoing benefit of our members and our profession.
