7-Hour National USPAP 2022-2023 Update Course (Virtual)

This 7-hour update course, copyrighted by The Appraisal Foundation, focuses on recent changes to USPAP requirements for ethical behavior and competent performance by appraisers. The course, which clarifies several commonly misunderstood aspects of USPAP, will aid participants in all areas of appraisal practice seeking updated competency in USPAP, including those subject to state licensing or certification and continuing education requirements imposed by professional organizations, client groups, or employers.

NOTE. Appraisers must successfully complete the 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course every 2 years to meet the USPAP continuing education requirement.

Required Class Materials:

  • The new course requires each student to have a copy of the 2020-2021 USPAP book, the Course Handbook & the Reference Manual. 
  • The Course Handbook & Reference Manual can be downloaded for free or you can purchase a hard copy. Materials can be found in your AI account.

About the Instructor: Ronald W. Loftis, Jr., MAI, CRE

Ronald W. Loftis, Jr., MAI, CRE, is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Loftis Companies as well as its Principal Appraiser and Consultant.  Ron earned the MAI (Member of Appraisal Institute) professional designation from the Appraisal Institute in 1990 and launched Loftis Appraisal Company that same year. In 2017, Ron was invited to become a member of The Counselors of Real Estate (CRE), recognizing his character, experience, knowledge, judgment, and activity as a career real estate counselor. He is qualified in all areas of real estate valuation services and has unique specialties in eminent domain, historic tax credits, low income housing, going concerns, and wineries and vineyards. Ron has testified as an expert witness in NC’s District and Superior Courts, the NC Insurance Commission, the US Bankruptcy Court, and the NC Property Tax Commission. Currently, he is a full instructor with the Appraisal Institute and is certified by the Appraiser Qualifications Board of the Appraisal Foundation as an AQB Certified USPAP Instructor. He previously taught pre-licensing courses with Forsyth Technical Community College and the Dan Mohr Real Estate School.  Ron is licensed as a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Additionally, Ron is a licensed Real Estate Broker and Broker in Charge of Loftis Commercial Realty, Inc. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors. Prior to his career as a Real Estate Appraiser, Ron worked with an international contractor and a national real estate developer. He holds an MBA from the Babcock Graduate School of Business of Wake Forest University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Wake Forest University.
