Job Description:
The North Carolina Appraisal Board has a job opening for the position of Deputy Director. The position’s responsibilities are to ensure compliance with licensure laws and Board rules for real estate appraisers and appraisal management companies in licensing, disciplinary matters, continuing education, and adherence to standards for professional appraisal practice. This position also provides guidance to licensees and the public, concerning licensure law and standards of practice.

Duties:

  • Evaluating applications for licensure.
  • Evaluating applications for education providers.
  • Coordinating license examination services.
  • Assisting in the preparation of Board publications.
  • Coordinating and overseeing investigations of disciplinary cases.
  • Responding to inquiries from licensees and the public.
  • Representing the Board at various meetings and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum: Mandatory graduation from a four-year college with at least a Bachelor’s Degree. Licensure as a North Carolina General Certified Real Estate Appraiser or eligible with a minimum of five years experience in appraising commercial and/or residential real estate; or significant experience in the area of appraiser/AMC licensing and regulation.

Required Competencies: The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required competencies and will be considered during the selection/interview process.

  • Thorough knowledge of real estate appraisal laws, principles, and practices and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
  • Demonstrated administrative leadership skills and superior written and verbal communication skills.

Other Requirements:

The position requires being able to report to the office in Raleigh daily, once training is complete there will be an opportunity for occasional days of telework. The applicant must also be able and willing to regularly travel statewide, including overnight. The successful applicant must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Applicants may be subject to a criminal background check.
